EXECUTIVE BOARD

Kevin Crateau - President

HVAF President, Kevin Crateau, is a longtime resident of Hardin Valley, with a daughter enrolling at HVA in ’17/’18 school year and another daughter and son ready to be Hawks in 2019 and 2027.  A graduate of Ohio University (Not Ohio State - GO BLUE!), he has 19 years in the financial industry, the last 15 of which he has been the Marketing Director for Regions Bank in the East Tennessee and North Carolina markets.  Kevin was an active leader in the initiative to bring a new middle school to Hardin Valley, and continues to work with community members to help plan and promote new opportunities to improve our surrounding community.  Kevin is the husband of Meshon Crateau, STEM English Teacher and Hardin Valley Dance coach who’s been at the Academy since 2008.

Sage Kohler - Event Committee

Sage Kohler serves as the Foundation event committee chair.  Her daughter Micah was part of the Class of 2012, the first class at HVA to go all four years at HVA.  Sage is a State Farm Agent in Hardin Valley and has been with State Farm for over 20 years.  She’s originally from Austin, Texas where she graduated with a BBA: Marketing from the other UT.  Sage continued her education over the years and has earned multiple certifications: Chartered Financial Consultant, Chartered Advisor for Senior Living and Chartered Life Underwriter.  She is a big believer in education and is currently a TN Promise Mentor and leads Junior Achievement classes at several local High Schools including HVA.  Sage has been married for 33 years and has a son who is married and an investment banker in Chicago and a daughter who graduated UTK in 2016 and now works at Georgia Pacific in Atlanta.  Sage enjoys her work, volunteer activities, gardening and golf.  While she has lived in 19 different states/countries, she is happy to call Knoxville, TN her “last earthly home”!

Kim Frazier - Fundraising and Community Development

Kim Frazier has lived in Knoxville, TN since her marriage to Dr. Russ Frazier in 1996.  Kim graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Business Administration as a recipient of the Madison County, AL Junior Miss Scholarship.  As the Executive Director of Hallmark Rehabilitation, Kim worked with TennCare to enable elementary school age children to receive PT, OT and Speech services while at school as a part of their insurance coverage benefits.   Kim enjoyed developing Human Resources practices for Bandit Lites, Inc. where she was recognized for her performance.  Kim has served on many diverse board of directors, acted as committee chair, community liaison, and led the start up efforts for local non-profits.  She has volunteered as an HR Consultant for Knoxville Leadership and has help to found and direct three community groups, Hardin Valley Supports a Middle School, Hardin Valley Planning Advocates and East TN Community Planning Alliance.  She is a stakeholder for the HV Traffic Mobility Study and the Knox County Greenway Corridor Study.  She recently spoke at the East TN Planning Symposium in a panel discussion on Government Involvement in Development and Land Use. She is a passionate public servant and a devoted mother of two boys who both attend a Hardin Valley School. Kim joined our board to assist with fundraising, board development, strategic planning and community outreach in 2019.

Suzanne Sherman - Teacher Representative

Suzanne Sherman has served as a librarian at HVA since the doors opened in 2008. She is a veteran teacher with 20 years of experience (half of them at HVA) who puts collaboration at the center of the library program and works to meet the needs of all the students and staff in whatever capacity she can. At the district level Suzanne has been a Professional Development Specialist, a member of the Teacher Advisory Council with the former Superintendent, and most recently a part of the Library/Media Services Vision Team as well as a district ELL Team. Suzanne is married to Dr. Phillip Sherman, professor of religion at Maryville College, and has two daughters, Kitely and Emory, both of whom attended Hardin Valley Elementary School.

Christy McCord - PTSA Representative

Christy McCord serves as the PTSA liaison for the HVA Foundation after serving as the HVA PTSA President for 2015-16.  A graduate of University of Mississippi and Master's degree from MTSU, Christy worked as a geriatric counselor before moving from Franklin, TN in 2003. Christy is married and has three children, an HVA alum (class of 2015) and two current HVA students.  She enjoys volunteering in the school setting and advocating for all students.
